SHADOWSOCKS

Shadowsocks is an encrypted proxy created to evade censorship firewalls; its traffic is designed to be indistinguishable from a random byte stream. Modern deployments use AEAD ciphers such as aes-256-gcm or chacha20-ietf-poly1305, and credentials are a method and password pair rather than a certificate. SIP002-style share links encode the credentials in the userinfo part of the URI, optionally with a plugin such as v2ray-plugin or simple-obfs. It remains one of the most widely supported protocols across public config lists.
